A bud was taken in; it expanded; there was no pollen, but the fruit developed.
The species is apogamous.
It is no doubt spontaneous.
Habitat: Heaths, meadows, ditches and birch-copses.

Planta 20—35 cm alta, sat robusta. Folia glauco-viridia, superne valde atro-
purpureo-maculata, parce araneosa, sat anguste lanceolata—lanceolata, petiolis pal-
lidis, nervo mediano + rubescenti, lobis distantibus, basin versus latissimis, deltoideis
vel in apicem longum, angustum attenuatis, patentibus—leviter retroversis, integris—
uni-dentatis, lobo terminali parvo, sat cordato—triangulari-hastato, acuto—acuminato,
integro, interlobiis latis, integris.
Involucrum sat obscure olivaceo-viride.
Squamae exteriores 2—3 X 8—11 mm, erecto-patentes—arcuatae, subtus laete—
obscure olivaceo-virides, + late purpureo-marginatae, supra laete virides, +
rubescentes.
Calathium c. 40 mm latum, planum, densum—sat densum, luteum. Ligulae
interiores canaliculatae, marginales planae, 3.5 X 15 mm, subtus stria obscure cano-
violacea—rubro-violacea notatae.
Antherae polline carentes.
Stylus et stigmata luteo-virescentia.
Achenium sat immaturum luteo-stramineum (157), c. 3.6 mm longum, c. 1.0—1.2
mm latum, superne crebre, breviter spinulosum, ceterum laeve—parce tuberculatum,
pyramide sat abrupte conica, 0.4—0.6 mm longa, inferne + spinulosa. Rostrum
10—11 mm longum.
T. stictoþhoreum is distinguished by its regular, bluish-green, very purple-spotted
leaves, anthers without pollen, and achenes finely spinous above with a somewhat
conic-toothed pyramid. In the form of the leaves the species resembles T. espinulosum,
but the achenes of the latter are smooth.
