Folia obscure glauco-viridia, crassa, fere glabra, + purpureo-maculata, lingulata vel fol. intermediorum late lanceolata, parum profunde lobata, petiolis sat latis, + purpureis, nervo mediano fere ubique purpureo vel brunnescenti, lobis fol. exteriorum et intermediorum 2—3 utrinque, latis, brevibus, in apicem brevem, acutum, reflexo-patentem vel hamatum abeuntibus, antice rectis vel convexis, integris—denticulatis, lobo terminali nunc parvo et cordato, nunc longo, ovato-sagittato vel lingulato, obtuso-mucronato. Folia interiora sat profunde lobata. Squamae exteriores 4.0—2.5 X 7—9 mm, adpressae, ovatae—anguste lanceolatae, in apicem + sensim sat longum, obtusum attenuatae, subtus olivaceo-virides, piloso- et saepe late purpureo-marginatae, supra laete virides, + glaucescentes. Calathium c. 40 mm latum, planum, leviter radians, obscure luteum—fere croceum. Ligulae + involutae, marginales subtus stria purpurea notatae. Antherae brunneo-striatae, polline carentes. Stigmata virescentia. Achenium fusco-stramineum (162—153), c. 4.2—4.5 mm longum, 1.4—1.5 mm latum, superne longe spinulosum, ceterum laeve—leviter tuberculatum, in pyramidem latam, conicam, 0.8—1.2 mm longam abiens. Rostrum 7—9 mm longum. T. jurvum has dark, bluish-green, almost smooth, + purple-spotted leaves, broad, short lobes with a small, acute point, orange-yellow heads, without pollen and a large fruit with long spines at the summit and a long pyramid.—It differs from T. vestmannicum among other things by the colour of the leaves, the strongly purple- margined outer bracts and the longer pyramid on the fruit. Habitat: Home-fields, ditches. Localities: Hafnarfjörður, 8.VII.1935 ( ?). S.W.—Siglufjörður, 14.VII.1935, phot. and 28.VII.1937, fr. N. Geogr. Distr.: Only found in Iceland. 60. Planta 15—25 cm alta. Folia sat lucide et obscure viridia, leviter lutescentia, + purpureo-maculata, fere glabra, crassa, lingulata, nunc integra et dentata, margine inter dentes leviter concavo—recto—leviter convexo, nunc parum lobata, lobis altis, brevibus, acutis, lobo terminali magno, longo, ovato-sagittato, obtuso—mucronato, margine convexo, integro, petiolis, angustis, purpureis, nervo mediano fere ubique lucide purpureo. Scapi brunneo-purpurei, glabri. Involucrum basi leviter turbinatum. Squamae exteriores + adpressae, 4—3 X 6—10 mm, ovato-lanceolatae, subtus olivaceo-virides, piloso- et inconspicue albo- marginatae, utrinque + purpurascentes. Calathium c. 40 mm latum, obscure luteum, subdensum. Ligulae marginales leviter involutae, subtus stria croceo-rosea notatae, dentibus croceo-roseis. Antherae polline carentes. Stigmata virescentia, subtus obscura.
