T. brevihastatum belongs to the purple-spotted species with very bright leaves, and is easily identified by its short and broad hastate terminal lobe, often about as broad as the leaf in its broadest place. It is no doubt introduced. Habitat: Home-fields. Localities: Akureyri, 29.VII.1937, plentiful, fr., phot. N. Geogr. Distr.: Only found in Iceland. 74. Taraxacum subpardinum M.P.Chr. n. sp. Stigmata obscura—virescentia. Achenium griseo-brunneum (138—134), c. 3.3 mm longum, c. 1.2 mm latum, superne latius et perdense longe, erecto- vel patenti-spinulosum, ceterum spinuloso- tuberculatum, in pyramidem cylindricam, 0.9—1.1 mm longam abiens. Rostrum 10—11 mm longum. T. subpardinum has bright purple-spotted leaves with a few lobes and a large, ovoid-hastate terminal lobe, dark heads and numerous, slightly recurved, hardly coloured outer bracts. It seems to be closely related to T. brevilobum.—The numerous specimens from moist banks of rivulets near Múlakot had thinner and more grey leaves and more teeth on the terminal lobe than the specimens from the other localities.
