The Botany of Iceland - 01.12.1942, Qupperneq 91
THE TARAXACUM-FLORA OF ICELAND 317 T. triste has almost blackish-green leaves; + densely placed, acute, strongly den- tate lobes; very dark, radiating heads, and narrow outer bracts. By the colour of its leaves it is distinguishable from all other Icelandic Taraxaca. It seems to be closely related to T. selenophoreum and may be confused with that species; it always differs, however, by the darker colour of the leaves, more slender lobes and more subulate-dentate and narrower outer bracts. Purple spots are absent, but as it recalls the species of the group Naevosa in many characters, it is placed in that group. It is no doubt spontaneous. Habitat: Mó, meadows, rock-ledges, lava-fields. Localities: Múlakot, 3.VII.1937, Bleiksárgljúfur, 4.VII.1937, Húsadalur and Stóriendi in Þórsmörk, 8.VII.1937, Stórólfshvoll, 9.VII.1937, Breiðabólsstaður, 9.VII. 1937, Heiði near Breiðabólsstaður, 23.VII.1936 (Omang), Barkarstaðir, 18.VII.1911.
