CONVENTIONs
Everything
You Need
It is not an easy task to organize the perfect event, whether it is a
conference, wedding or even a small business meeting. Finding
the right venue in a timely manner or the serious event planner pos-
sessing the vision to see tomorrow’s trends and to deliver now, can
be more difficult and puzzling than one could imagine. However, if
that is the case, you have come to the right place because Grand
Hótel Reykjavík offers all of the above mentioned and even more.
Grand Hótel Reykjavík offers a wide variety of spaces to host con-
ferences, meetings and other special occasions.
The hotel offers 15 conference rooms of various sizes. Gullteigur,
the largest one provides several configurations that will accommo-
date some 470 seated guests and 700 at a standing reception. In
addition, six meeting rooms are located on the hotel’s top floor,
offering spectacular views over the capital.
Grand Hótel Reykjavík is a part of Íslandshótel, one of Iceland’s
largest hotel chains. “This is a solid family business with a clear vi-
sion, solid strategy and a large portfolio of exciting projects on
the table,” says the company’s new marketing director, Ósk Heiða
Sveinsdóttir. “Being a marketing manager in this dynamic industry
is a breathtaking challenge. In my previous job, which entailed or-
ganizing conferences, Grand Hótel Reykjavík used to be my first
choice. I knew that my expectations would be exceeded at Grand
Hótel. Everyone here is willing to go the extra mile.”
On top of it all, Grand Hótel Reykjavík is a true leader when it
comes to respecting the environment. “It is Iceland’s only hotel
to be awarded the Swan, the Nordic Ecolabel. Moreover, the ho-
tel made history as the first Icelandic company to receive certifi-
cation in the field of organic catering and in 2012 Grand Hótel
Reykjavík received the environmental award from the Icelandic
Tourist Board.”
In order to keep up the energy of a long day at a convention,
eating right is essential, Ósk Heiða points out. “We nourish our
guests with delicious and nutritious meals from our kitchen; we
even offer energizing wheatgrass shots so that guests can start
their day in the best way possible.”
There are exciting times ahead for Íslandshótel, says Ósk Heiða.
“The latest addition to our chain Fosshótel Reykjavík, is currently
under construction at Höfðatorg Square. It will be Iceland’s larg-
est hotel. The 320-room hotel will offer a fine view of the city
skyline and mountains. Fosshótel Reykjavík’s facilities and loca-
tion offer endless opportunities for sightseeing, relaxation and
recreation, and business.
With the substantial increase in number of tourists visiting the
country, there are new opportunities for Iceland and tourism in
particular. In order to maintain Iceland’s good reputation, every
effort must be made to make them feel welcome. It is not a sim-
ple task but it can be achieved with effort, dedication and profes-
sionalism and here at Grand Hótel Reykjavík, we are ready.”
