The Icelandic word for swimming pool is sundlaug. It happens to be
one of the most important words you need to know during your stay.
Renowned for their health benefits, Iceland’s geothermal swimming
pools are an essential part of its culture; the best way to relax, catch
some sun, exercise, meet the locals and perhaps even get in touch
with your inner child with the help of their wave pools and waterslides.
Starting near Keflavik Airport, Iceland Review takes you across the
country listing a selection of the country's swimming pools.
The Sandgerði swimming pool complex has a 25-meter swimming pool, two water slides,
a wading pool, Jacuzzi, hot tub and steam bath. The premises also include a fitness
center and a sports hall.
The Garður Swimming Pool has a 25 x 8-meter outdoor swimming pool, a Jacuzzi,
a hot tub, a children’s wading pool, a waterslide and a steam bath in addition to great
sunbathing facilities.
Vatnaveröld is an indoor water park for the whole family with a 50-meter indoor pool and
a designated children’s area containing slides and other attractions. Here you will also
find a 25-meter outdoor pool, a wading pool, waterslides, hot tubs and a sauna.
