Nevertheless, after our three years
in Germany, we want to return to
Canada and come back to Winnipeg.
Winnipeg has always been “home” to
my husband and to me, and we
would rather not have to consider any
other place to live.

The slim and keen-eyed scholar was in
his mid-fifties. The room was scattered
with volumes ■ of books in French
Icelandic, English and other languages.
Reels of magnetic tape, canvases and ea-
sels were stacked around the room.
With his eyes brightening he often re-
called the earliest written description of
an Icelandic musical event.
"The Medieval cleric visited a perfor-
mance and saw a singer standing on a
slightly raised platform. The audience
all stood facing the performer, swaying,
bouncing... dancing to the rhythm of the
song."
