Westman Islands, including flights
from Reykjavík to the islands and
back again, and two nights with
breakfast at Hotel Gestgjafinn, at a
very reasonable price of around
$116.
Quite apart from the natural beau-
ty of the area, there is plenty to do
in town, and the package price in-
cludes an evening out at Mylluhóll.
A weekend in the Westman Islands
gives ample opportunity to explore
Heimaey, struck by a volcanic erup-
tion ten years ago, take a boat trip to
neighbouring islands or a sightseeing
flight.
Editorial
This week's editorial comments on
the importance of the arrivaf of
spring. Nothing interests those of us
who suffer through long, cold and
dark winters as much as changes in
temperature.
It has sometimes been suggested
that one of the reasons Icelanders
selected Manitoba as their site of per-
manent, exclusive, settlement was itfe
climate. It offers a little bit of
everything; snow, flood, heat, giving
the Icelanders an excellent oppor-
tunity to maintain a traition. Weather
has always been the most popular
topic of converstaion in Iceland and
as the immigrants wanted more than
anything to remain as Icelandic as
possible, Manitoba certainly offered
the perfect climate. Of what would
they have talked about in Brazil?
Hinrik ívarsson
The story on page 5 by Mr. Hinrik
Ivarsson tells of fishing in a popular
river in Iceland. Mr. ívarsson tells of
how he caught the same fish twice,
within 24 hrs. His story is interesting,
because it describes fishing in Icelan-
dic rivers very well.
Witticism
The fellow who keeps
on saying, "No two
ways about it" is a
bachelor.
