Calaboose For Columbus?
A Historíc Tríai
“Columbus sailed the ocean blue”
Five hundred years ago
Which they now plan to celebrate
And put on a global show
Yet, time has raised troubling
questions
And forced many to pause
About this glamorous sailor
And those who backed his cause
We know that the wife of Þorfinn
Travelled to see the Pope
The Vatican had many priests
Who knew the Vinland scope
And sagas put Chris in Iceland
Well before his sailing
Studying the explorations and
The cause of their failing
He knew it was quite safe to sail
West from the Spanish coast
So all the talk of unknown lands
Was but an empty boast
Natives of the Americas
Plead a different case
Accusing Spain of genocide
Against an entire race
They set aside ruthless times
Abroad in Europe then
Asking that facts and history
Judge these truculent men
They charge terrorism and torture
And wanton slavery
The slaying of all who did not
Bow to their mastery
They charge them with rape and
mayhem
With greed that had no end
All in the name of religion
With a most fiendish bend
Yes, it will be a mock trial
Commencing in the fall
But descendants of these natives
Are standing just and tall

St. Paul. He was found
guilty and sentenced to
350 years of community
service.
