Looking for Roots
Iwas referred to you
by the Consul Gen-
eral of Iceland. I am
presently researching my
family’s genealogy and
was wondering if you
could publish the follow-
ing. I am tiying to locate
my great-grandfather
Isaac Eric Enlund.
Isaac Eric Enlund was
born on December 9,
1867 in Vasa, Finland
and married Brita Sophia
(or Sophia) Palm (born
on June 14, 1871) in
Vasa, Finland on April
23, 1892. The children of
this union were Ida
Sophia (bom in Sweden
1893), Arvid Isaac (bom
in Minnesota, U.S.A.
1897), Hilma Maria
(born in Minnesota,
U.S.A., 1899) and Ester
Elvira (born in Minne-
sota, U.S.A., 1901).
We believe Isaac
arrived in Superior,
Wisconsin in the United
States from Vasa, Finland
in 1893. According to the
divorce papers Sophia
filed in 1904, Isaac
deserted her and their
four children on May 27,
1902 and headed for
Iceland from Minnesota,
U.S.A (possibly through
Canada?). She indicated
that Isaac may have gone
to Iceland but she was
not sure — he may have
headed for Europe, how-
ever, at this point, I’m
trying all avenues.
