Ingibjörg Sólrún næsti forsetisráðherra?
Ingibjörg Sólrún the Next Premier?
They said that they leamed a
lot on this trip, and that the
“hospitality was remarkable.”
They were fascinated by the
awareness of Icelanders and
their history in the province.
They said also that they
were surprised to see over-
head projectors and chalk
boards at the university. At
Bifröst all students have lap-
tops in front of them in class.
They were also interested in
the dififerences between the
programs in the two countries.
Three of the students said
that they were planning on
doing their MBA following
graduation this spring, and
said that they would seriously
consider applying to the
University of Manitoba. They
were impressed by the cost of
doing things here, in compari-
son to Iceland.
The students said they had
“a great experience,” and that
they “wouldn’t mind doing it
all over again.”
The person in charge of
organizing this very success-
ful event was Corinne Suchy,
who at one time worked with
the L-H, and is a fourth year
student in the Business
Faculty at the University of
Manitoba. She worked with a
council of ten people to organ-
ize the whole afifair which is
sponsored by I. H. Asper
School of Business students at
the University of Manitoba.
MIMC has three key ele-
ments: a computer simulation
conducted over the Internet, a
strategy statement, and pre-
sentations. To learn more

Samfylkingin is discussing
the possibility that
Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir
become the political leader of
the party in the next parliamen-
tary elections in May and
become a candidate for the
Premiership at the end of the
elections.
After it was evident that
Ingibjörg Sólrún, who holds the
fifth seat in one of the two
Reykjavík constituencies, would
run as a candidate, discussions
within the party as to how to
organize her introduction into
the political system of the coun-
try began.
The possibility of moving
Ingibjörg's seat higher than the
fifth on the list has been dis-
cussed, bút it seems that it has
been decided against, accord-
ing to the informant for the
Morgunblað. For this to be pos-

sible everyone on the list
would have to agree to the
change.
Look to Norway
The leaders of Samfylkingin
have looked to the other Nordic
counhies for a solution to this
problem. A previous case was
found in Norway, whej-e one
man lead the elections while
another lead the party.
An example of this is when
Jens Stoltenberg was a candi-
date for Premier for the Norse
Labour Party in the 2001 elec-
tions and not Torbjpm Jagland,
the leader of the party.
According to this idea,
Ingibjörg would be the political
spokesperson for the party dur-
ing the elections while Össur
Skarhéðinsson would concen-
trate on the inside work of the
party, and even lead discus-
sions conceming the formation
of the cabinet.
The matter has not been
discussed within Samfylkingin,
but a desire to make a final
decision soon is evident.
