Icelandic design
featured in Gimli
back to Manitoba after having
worked in the business in Van-
couver for almost 20 years.
Eight models, of which
four were of Icelandic descent,
showed the collection. The
fashion show was in support of
Cancer Care Manitoba as well.
Janice Filmon was a special
guest and about 80 people,
mainly women from Gimli and
the surrounding area, were in
attendance.
The Icelandic sweaters
were modelled while the music
from Guitar Islancio’s (Björn
Thoroddsen, Gunnar Þórðar-
son and Jón Rafnsson) CD
Connections was played. “We
wanted the atmosphere to be as
Icelandic as possible,” Vivian
Pálína said.
According to Vivian Pálína
the show went very well. “I had
really good response. The
ladies seemed to love the
clothes and the atmosphere
was very good. It was most
enjoyable.”

Recently Icelandic jackets
or sweaters made of boiled
wool, designed by Gerður
Kristjánsdóttir, were the main
attraction at a Fashion Show at
Amma’s Tea Room in Gimli,
Manitoba.
“This is the first time I
carry Gerður’s line and the first
time I include her line in a
fashion show,” says Vivian
