is a special mission of the Ameri-
can-Korean Foundation. Through
low-cost housing for refugee famil-
ies, medical services, vocational
training, and in a myriad of other
ways the Foundation helps Korean
children who are desperately in
need.

To The
American
Overseas
Campaign
The American Overseas Cam-
paign (AOC) was kicked off last
Wednesday night by Capt Emile E.
Pierre, Jr., commanding officer of
Naval Station with an Armed
Forces Television appearance.
During his speech Captain Pierre
stressed the importance of the
AOC.
The AOC is an agency which
serves not one, but nine complete-
ly different causes; Radio Free
Europe, the USO, CARE, Pro-
ject HOPE, United Seaman’s Ser-
vice, American Social Health
Association, and the American-
Korean Foundation.
Through one gift you give in
part to each of these nine agen-
cies, or you can designate that
your entire contribution be given
to any one agency in particular.
Questions most often raised con-
cerning the AOC are:
Q. How do I know my contri-
bution goes to the agency I de-
signate?
A. The AOC agencies accept
completely their obligations under
the Federal Policy to respect the
designation of each donor.
Q. How much should I contri-
bute?
A. Only you can decide how
much to give. The need is great,
be generous. Your gift may be
returned many fold if the agency
is able to help you or your family
in time of misfortune.
Q. Can I contribute to a charity
not listed?
A. No, there is no provision to
include charities other than those
listed in the Federal Directive.
You may donate to any other
charity only by contributing dir-
ectly to the agency concerned.
This year the campaign will be
conducted on the key-man system.
A person in your own organiza-
tion will contact you for your
contribution. The American Over-
seas Campaign holds out its hand
only once each year ... be gener-
ous, give now and have your unit
represented 100 per cent. See
your keyrhan before the cham-
paign deadline Nov. 19.

AMERICAN SOCIAL HEALTH
ASSOCIATION—ASHA maintains
close liaison with the United Na-
tions’ World Health Organization.
ASHA is constanty at work to
safeguard the health of the men
of the Armed Forces and their
families.
Ideals-Give
UNITED SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS—USO exists only to serve Am-
erican Armed Forces wherever they go. Last year, with the help of
your contributions, USO was able to open a new facility at Saigon,
expand services in other clubs, and send some 2,500 shows reaching
an audience of over 2,000,000.

UNITED SEAMAN’S SERVICE —
USS signal flags spell welcome in
foreign ports to American seamen
and other Americans stationed
throughout the world. USS pro-
vides health, welfare, recreational
and emergency services to men
long absent from home.
CARE—Your dollars contributed
to CARE rebuild a man’s confi-
dence to support himself and his
family . . . bring needed food to
a starving family . . . medicines
to a bed-ridden child. These things
make them know that you and all
Americans are their friends.
HOPE—HOPE’S staff of well-trained physicians, dentists, nurses,
and technicians care for the sick throughout the world while up upgrad-
ing the level of medical education by training their counterparts in
locales they visit.
