HEAD MAN—With the New Year
in 1965 the Iceland Defense Force
welcomed a new flag; that of RAdm
Ralph Weymouth. Rear Admiral
Weymouth took over the top billet
in January.

study areas of Iceland that are considered comparable to the surface

of the Naval Station when he took
command in July.

They will participate in project Apollo.

THE LAST PATROL—The Barrier Forces, Atlantic, BARLANT, was
dissolved in 1965 and this solitary “Willy Victor” completed its last pa-
trol over the North Atlantic bringing to an end eight years of vigilance.
IDF Teamwork Does The Job
WATCH THE BIRDIE—Max A.
Akins, PH2, works at the Station
Photo-Lab. Being a Navy photo-
grapher, he is an expert in taking
and processing all varieties of pic-
tures. The 28-year-old Navyman is
from Iteidsville, Ga. He’s been in
the service 10 years and in Ice-
land four months. Max is a career
Navyman and plans to farm after
his 20. To make his holidays more
nearly complete; he’s just become
the father of a new baby boy.
SPECIAL OR REGULAR?—Famili-
ar words from a familiar face at
the Navy Exchange Laundry come
from Gudrun Jonsdottir. Mrs.
Jonsdottir has been working at the
laundry both in the office and at
the counter for nine years. Origi-
nally from Hafnarfjordur, Ice-
land, she now resides at Hafnir, a
small village outside the base, with
her husband Mr. Richard Asgeirs-
son. They have been married 16
years.
DOUBLE DUTY—TSgt. John
Trombetti, an Aircraft Control and
Warning Technician, from Rock-
ville, serves double duty as staff
artist for the White Falcon. Trom-
betti served at Adair AFS, in Cor-
vallis, Ore., before reporting to
Keflavik a month ago. His wife and
seven children reside in Los An-
geles, Calif. Sergeant Trom-
betti, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa.,
has been in the Air Force 15 years
and plans to put his artistic ta-
lents to work after his retirement
as a mapmaker.
