A joint oommuíiiqaé issued by
the Air Ministry aind the Admir-
alty states that a German suib-
maiine surnendened to a British
btomber iin the Atiamtic- A Hudson
bomber sighted the submariine,
attaeked it and after a wihi'le
fbroed it to tbe surfaide. Then
the oaptaiin surremdered. A heavy
gale was btowing. After a while
the Hudsom wias relieved by a
Cataiina flyimg boat and shortly
afterwiards a British wnarship
arrived on the spot. Because of
the bad weather the British ship
had tio wiait for several hours
umtil she ooiuld approadh the U-
Boat. The U-Boat wias then
tiowed safely to a British port.
This is the first time a sub-
marine has sumendered to a
plane.

Vireless Strike in Norway
On the 2nd September the
Swiedish newispaiper ‘Svensfea
Dagbladet’ repiorted that Nor-
wegian iwireless listeners had
’gone on strike’ amd that rthis
wais spreading rapidly. The paper
oonsidered that 100,000 lis'teners
'were alneady on strike. the resiult
iof whicíh is a refusal to pay the
annual wireless liceníde. The post-
maister in the Þraendalag district
has called upom listeners to
acoept the poist-office demamds
in a friendJy spirit, as post-
office employees have nothing to
do with the removal of wireless
sets.
