The film is set in Iceland in a dystopian future, where global warming has caused massive destructive flooding. As humanity struggles to survive, the last attempt to preserve art has led to the creation of Gernot Faber, a human who wears a mask that controls his thoughts and emotions. We follow Gernot as he attempts to find the Blue Lagoon, which he believes is the only escape from the mask and will transform him into a normal human being. Along the way, Gernot must battle external forces, as well as his own internal demons. As he struggles to remove the artificial face he wears for the world and to find out who he truly is, which is a challenge that we must all face at some point in our lives, Gernot's adventure is the ultimate journey of self- discovery.
