THE MAN WHO MAKES NO
MISTAKES--DOES NOTHING %
We pay a heavy price for fear of failure. It
is a powerful obstacle to growth. It assures the
progressive narrowing of the personality and
prevents exploration and experimentation. There
is no learning without some difficulty and some
funbling. If you want to keep learning, you must
keep risking failure--all your life.
Fear of f ai 1 ur e br eeds t i ird di t y. It makes men
hesitate. It encourages them to turn their backs
on challenge and innovation.
The issue at stake is not failure itself. It
is a question of attitude. A man’s attitude can
strengthen or destroy him
The successful man appreciates the fact that
failure is nothing more than a state of ni nd.
He beli eves that t he way to greet f ai 1 ure is not
with fear but with curiosity. Why did the mis-
take happen? How can I best avoid it again?
Mistakes for this man are gui deposts, direc-
tion finders in the endless search for the most
el usi ve of al 1 goal s- - per f ect i on.
Theodore Roosevelt said: ‘‘Show me a man who
makes no mistakes and I will show you a man who
doesn’t do things.’’
Man will always make mistakes so long as he
continues to strive for some goal.
Meet the WHITE FALCON'S “Dippy Di I ber t. “ Each
week Dippy will serve as a reminder to all naval
station personnel that many fire hazards can be
caused by everyday careless acts. Never smoke
near refueling areas and always observe no smo-
king signs should have been Dippy's thought for
the day.
