ew GI bill stresses home loans, mobile home program
New GI benefits and extensions
of existing benefits are all part
of a new bill signed into law by
President Nixon. The31 Jan. 1975
date set as the terminal date for
the VA's direct loan program has
been eliminated and benefits to
those among the almost 9 million
Korean and World War II veterans
who had not previously used them,
have been restored.
Home loans form the major part
of the new bill. For the first
time, loans can be made for mo-
bile homes up to $10,000 or up to
$17,500 if the lot upon which it
is put is also purchased. Up to
30 per cent of this loan can be
guaranteed. Talcing advantage of
this benefit does not stop a per-

Another provision of the bill
allows those under this program
to refinance mortgage loans or
loans held on homes that they
either occupy or own. Up to 60
per cent or $12,500 whichever is
less can be guaranteed. The same
60 per cent or $12,500 loan ap-
plies to those purchasing family
units or condominiums that are
insured by the Federal Housing
Agency.

Santa to visit FRA tonight
Santa Claus is going to be a
busy fellow this month.
But among his many appoint-
ments of a very Christmasy sched-
ule, he will make it a point to
visit the Fleet Reserve Home to-
night and greet all the young
children who wish to see him. He
will park his sleigh between 7
and 9 p.m. and will wait for the
children of the base to stop in.
If you are talking to Saint
Nicholas and you notice a flash-
ing, it is only the friendly pho-
tographer taking pictures for
Santa's Album...and for you.
Toyland also to see Santa
Toyland has a surprise in store
for all the young children on the
base. Santa Claus will be there
for the first three Saturdays in
December from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The dates sire December 5, 12
and 19. A photographer will also
be on hand to take pictures of
the children with Santa Claus.
