Caller: Where can I get income tax forms7 Where can I get help
for questions concerning ray income tax?
C.A.L.: The naval station legal officer will assist in answering
questions posed by naval personnel. The Air Force legal officer at
the NavSta legal office will aid _
air force personnel. All forms
are at the NavSta legal office.
Caller: May pets be taken a-
board TIA flights?
C.A.L.: No pets are allowed
on any Military Airlift Command
aircraft. MAC Manual 76-1 refers.
Caller: May I buy soft drinks
and remove them from the base?
C.A.L.: Soft drinks may not be
removed from the base. Comlce-
DeFor Instruction 5840.5 refers.
Caller: What is the Navy Ex-
change policy on marking down
merchandise which has been in
stock for some time? Isn't it a
six-month period? Also, I bought
a pair of blue jeans, and they fell
apart the second time they were
laundered. Can I take them back?
C.A.L.: NEX has no set guide-
lines or policy on markdowns. If
a product purchased is unsatis-
factory, return it to the NEX with
the sales slip and exchange it.
"Our policy," says NEX, "is cus-
tomer satisfaction."
Caller: Why can't the NEX car-
ry a better selection of daily
newspapers?
C.A.L.: NEX tried carrying
other papers,but delivery systems
in the States often resulted in
papers arriving here many days
outdated. Papers must be deliver-
ed by the publisher to aircraft

coming to Iceland. The only one
making deliveries and assuring
daily delivery is the paper now
carried at the exchange.
Caller: Can I take my pet ham-
ster back to the States on TIA?
If not, can I ship it back, and
what will be the cost? What are
the quarantine procedures?
C.A.L.: You cannot ship or
carry pets back on TIA. You can
ship it back via Pan Am in a cage
meeting Pan Am requirements. The
minimum price is $22. There is
no quarantine if the animal car-
ries (or you have it at the time
of pick-up) a letter in writing
from a veterinarian stating the
animal is disease-free.
Caller: The dryers in BEQ 746
are shot. When are we going to
get new washers and dryers?
C.A.L.: Routine inspections
are made on dryers for proper run-
ning operation only. Defective
heat elements as well as improper
running should be reported to the
Emergency and Service Desk (Ext.
4100) by the BEQ MAA. Heating
elements in Bks. 746 will receive
immediate attention. Forty new
washers and dryers are on order
for the BEQ's and receipt of them
is anticipated by the end of May
this year. Caller; ^ ^ rfi_
