The Navy has a program to aid career petty officers in obtaining
an Associate Degree in various vocational and technical fields.
The Associate Degree Completion Program (ADCOP)is for petty offic-
ers who are second class or above
enlistment. Presently, accepted
applicants are sent on PCS orders
to one of the five participating
junior colleges. ADCOP students
attend the college on a full-time
basis including summer sessions
and consequently finish the pro-
gram in less than two years.
Students are eligible to receive
advance standing from the college
for previous college credits or
Navy school attended.
Among the fields of concentra-
tion offered by the program are
engineering, applied mechanics,
and on their second, or subsequent
drafting, electronics, data proc-
essing, business administration,
food service, medical and dental.
Graduates of ADCOP will be as-
signed to duty which is consist-
ent with past duty assignments
and previous training. The time
spent in ADCOP is considered neu-
tral time for sea-shore rotation
and personnel maintain their Sea-
vey eligibility.
The objective of the program
is to prepare career petty-offic-
ers for responsible assignments
and promotion and to increase
their value to the naval service.

quirements of the program, con-
