New space ‘A’
| travel regs.
New space available travel
procedures were recently put into
effect.
The new procedures require a
passenger to sign up only once at
the Military Airlift Command
(MAC) passenger terminal.
He must, however, be present
the first time his name is called
for the flight. If he is called
and doesn't respond, his name is
removed from the waiting list.
When the passenger signs up,
he will be able to determine how
far down the list he is, and by
checking the flight schedule he
will know of those flights that
may offer space available seats
for his destination. All sched-
uled and opportune flights which
might offer space available seats
will be posted 24 hours in ad-
vance.
^ When the number of available
Bsats becomes known—usually one
and a half to two hours before
flight time—names will be called
from the list until the seats are
filled.
Applicants for space available
travel must register personally
in the MAC air passenger terminal.
Space available assignments are
made on a first-come, first-
served basis within the categor-
ies set forth in OpNav Instruc-
tion 4630.12C. Additionally, ap-
plicants must present the docu-
mentation as indicated in BuPers
Instruction 4650.16 when regis-
tering for space available.
The new system is expected to
be more responsive to the travel-
ready passenger andprovide a more
realistic list of persons ready
to travel.
