Recording Center offers sounds of today
Setting up the tape machine is
part of the fun of doing your .
own recording.

The sounds of today are avail-
able at the Hobby Center Tape Re-
cording Facility. And you can
record them for use on your own
equipment.
Rock, country and western,
soul, easy listening and class-
ical records and tapes are ready
to be heard. New records and
tapes are being added now, ac-
cording to attendant Danny Lea-
vitt.
Four pairs of machines allow
you to copy prerecorded tapes.
The attendant also has four pairs
of recorders to do your taping.
An automatic turntable and a
recorder let you copy the facil-
ity's records.
Although all of the present
equipment is open-reel, cassette
and cartridge facilities will be
added soon.
One cent a minute is charged
for the use of the equipment.
"Spike" Hansson,Hobby Center Dir-
ector, pointed out that all of
this money is used to buy new
records and tapes for the facil-
ity.
The cost of the recorders and
their maintenance is paid for by
nonappropriated funds. The re-
creation department pays the sal-
aries of the attendants, accord-
ing to Hansson.
The tape facility is open from
6-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 1-
5 p.m. and 6-10 p.m. on weekends.
Anyone using the facility
should bring his own recording
tape. Tape is sold in the sales
store at the Hobbv Center.
Attendant Danny Leavitt carefully checks recording levels. He can
duplicate tapes for you if you don't have time.
Records can be transferred to
open-reel tape with this equip-
ment.
Posters outside the facility
give a hint of the good sounds
inside.
Four people at a time can record the sounds of today and yesterday
for listening on their own equipment.
