New guidelines set
for wearing ribbons
Are you displaying your ribbons
properly on your uniform?
Chances are good that you are
not unless you are familiar with
a recent change to the SecNav in-
struction which sets forth the
order of precedence of medals and
awards. The order was revised for
campaign and service awards, and
deadline dates for compliance
were set.
However, another change has
arrived which changes the change!
Deadline dates for complying
with the change in precedence
were originally set as Jan. 1,
1972 for ribbons and Jan. 1, 1973
for medals. The latest revision
states that personnel may contin-
ue to wear ribbon bars and medals
as presently mounted until re-
mounting is feasible. However,
all ribbons and medals must be
worn in accordance with the new
precedence order as of Jan. 1,
1974.
For the revised order of prec-
edence of medals and awards, see
Sec Nav Instruction 1650.ID or
check with your Education and
Training Office
