Week is Karol Purcell of the Lad-
ies League Pirates.
Karol plays short stop for the
Pirates and also has the top bat-
ting average for the league with

Worm race set
A worm race? Yes, a worm race
is scheduled to take place June
29 at the Base Gym.
Starting time will be 1 p.m.
and all "crawlers" must be regis-
tered by Thursday.
There will be divisions of 2
inch, 4 inch and 6 inch worms and
prizes will be awarded to first
and second place winners.
This is the second worm race
to be held on the NATO Base. The
first held in 1971 was won by the
pedigree worm Josephus Daniels in
a record time of 4 minutes and 36
seconds.

Karol is married and has 3
boys. She said "I'm surprised"
when she talked of her selection.
She also added "We (the team)
play ball to have fun."
Upset of the Week
The Upset of the Week featured
Recreation upsetting Grindavik
by a score of 14-9.
Grindavik was undefeated and
the Recreation team had not won
a game. Batting leaders for the
Recreation team were Guy Kline
who hit a home run and Ted Sojka
who had 4 hits at 5 trips to the
plate. Earl Kinnett hit a 3 run
homer for Grindavik.
Game of the week—
Rockville vs CommSta
The Game of the Week involved
Rockville defeating CommSta 5-1.
Rockville was led by the 5 hit
pitching of Art Heller and the
big bat of Bob Cullen who hit a
home run and was 2 for 3 at the
plate.
Dick Plante led the CommSta
team as he pitched for them as
well as getting 2 hits and lead-
ing the batting.

The Enlisted Wives Bowling
League is still looking for new
bowlers. If anyone is interest-

W inners named
First half winners in each
league were VP-49 American League
and CommSta in the National
League. The Streakers came out
on top in the Ladies League and
Grindavik was first in the Inter-
mediate League.
