Player of the Week
Cobb named
The Player of the Week is Bill
Cobb of the 57th's National
League team.
Bill is the first baseman for
the team and ranks among the t^p
five batters in the National
League.
He turned in an impressive
performance as an All Star for
the National League by hitting
two triples. He currently is
carrying a .595 batting average.
Bill is from Waynesboro Ten-
nessee and says that he's been
playing baseball most of his
life.
When he talked of his selec-
tion he said "I am honored." He
also added "It's not just my ef-
fort , it's team effort and that's
why we're now in first place."
Bill works in the Hydraulics
Shop for the 57th FIS. He will
be leaving for his new duty sta-
tion in Florida on Sunday.
Blitz golf tourney
A Five way Blitz Golf Tourna-
ment was held on the Keflavik
Course July 7.
Dave Devaney took the Blind
Bogey carrying a 76 average with
a handicap. He also was the med-
alist with a 79 gross. Wayne
Hallonen finished a close second
with an 80.
Ken Bunn and Dick Plante took
the Hole in One honors and Dave
Siddle took the Best 9 Holes a-
ward.
The winning team was the team
of Dave Siddle, Bill Rusnak, Don
Bosserdet and Ken Eastman who
finished up with a 3 under par.
The next golf tournament will
be held on the Keflavik Course
starting at 1 p.m., July 21.
Paddleball
A singles paddle ball tourna-
ment is being scheduled for July
19. Sign up date is July 17 at
the Base Gym.

* All Star Softball J
The All Stars took to the
softball field July Fourth and
the results were three exciting
ball games.
The first game saw the Navy
squeak by the Air Force 6-3 in
fast pitch softball. Jerry Ferg-
uson was the outstanding player
in that game for both his field--
ing and he went three for four at
the plate.
Randy Spillers had a good af-
ternoon at the plate for the Navy
as he hammered out two doubles at
four trips to the plate.
The Air Force was led by the
hitting of Trini Uribe and Tom
Hall who both had two hits. The
Air Force pitcher was Don Barr.
The Ladies All Stars invaded
the field next as Team II defeat-
ed Team I 18-10.
Team I featured players from
the Streakers, Pirates and Rock-
ettes. Team II consisted of mem-
bers of the Aikane, Zoppers and
Boogians teams.
Despite the final score the
game was close until the final
inning. The game remained tied
until the 6th inning and Team II
went ahead by two runs. During
the seventh inning costly errors
led to the defeat of Team I, as
Team II scored 10 runs.
Dusty Chipman was named out-
standing player of the game as
she went three for five at the
plate and made key plays in the
rover position for Team II.
Marilyn "Hawk" Hawkins hit a home
run and Penny Phillips had four
hits at five trips to the plate
for the winning team.
Trish Daly hit a two run horr
and Sue Dunn went three for thr?
for Team I.
It was the National League All
Stars over the American League
All Stars 15-13 in the third and
final game of the day.
Outstanding player for the
game was George Kegyes as he
played well on the field and wenj
four for four at the plate fc
the National League.
Dan Brayman, Frank Carille and
Ron Black each got a home run and
Bill Cobb hit two triples for the
winners.
Denny Pryor and Ron Sorg were
three for three at the plate.
Dean Pitts and Randy Spillers
both went three hits at four
trips to the plate including hoii
runs. Charlie Gray also had'
home run for the American League
All Stars.
