U. S. wins
handball match
Some 200 fans were treated to a great
exhibition of skill and shot making
Saturday, as the American Olympic Hand-
ball team and the Icelandic All-Stars
fought a close battle with the U. S.
team emerging the victors, 26-22.
Iceland led at half-time 11-9, and
with five minutes left in the game, the
score was 22-22. But the American team
proved to be in better condition, scor-
ing four more goals in the remaining few
minutes to win.
The U. S. team is scheduled to return
to Iceland in January for a one-week
visit. Plan now to see the action.
SS--player of the week
Benny Hilton of the 57th, who is
playing great at shortstop this season,
was chosen Player of the Week.
Benny is hitting .650 to lead the
American League, and is second in Inter-
mediate action with a .600 average.
He has a great arm and excellent
range for a shortstop, which allows him
to cut off many opposition hits.
Benny is from Cincinnati, and regards
sports as a major past-time in Iceland.

In conjunction with the Naval Sta-
tion's 4th of July celebration, the Kef-
lavik Bowling Association (KBA) is spon-
soring a "Pro-Style" handicap bowling
tournament, sanctioned by the American
Bowling Congress. It's open only to KBA
members. The tournament will start with
the entrants bowling 10 games each, com-
peting for the top 20 positions. Win-
ners will bowl five games each for the
top five positions.
The top five will bowl pro-style e-
limination round, with the bowler having
the highest score of the five games as
the tournament leader.
In pro-style bowling the r. 5 posi-

against the no. 3 position. The winner
of that match will go against the tourn-

the difference between the bowler's en-
tering average and 200. A bowler must
enter his highest league average acquir-

available, the bowler’s highest average
in any league in the season will be ac-
cepted upon receipt of written verifica-
