White Falcon race : POs to be quality controlled A quality control review board is now in session at the Bureau of Naval Per- sonnel, with the task of reviewing all records of second class and first class petty officers. This is the first time E-5 and E-6 records have been subjected to this screening, which is done annually for all chief petty officers. The board is made up of 13 members tasked with the job of determining if all the petty of- ficers are measuring up to expected per- formance standards. The majority of the approximately 140,000 service records will be screened by computers. Then, those falling below acceptable standards will be examined individually by the board. The board may recommend administra- tive discharge, reduction in rate, or reenlistment restriction for poor per- formers and may issue warning letters to marginal performers. Lateral conversion scores go down to 37 The Bureau of Naval Personnel has an- nounced some changes to enlisted ad- vancement examination policy, and en- listed distribution requirements and policies. Effective with the August 1976 exam cycle, advancement exam scores required of personnel desiring a lateral conver- sion to another rating, will be lowered. In the past, test scores of 45 for E-4, 50 for E-5 and 52 for E-6 were required. Under the new policy, a score of 37 on the exam is all that will be required for any of the three pay grades. The Bureau also says a more complete answer sheet will be used for advance- ment exams with the August 1976 exam cycle. The new answer sheets should al- low for a more rapid processing of exam results by reducing discrepancies. In distribution changes, enlisted personnel will retain their present programmed ro- tation date (PRD) when they are ad- vanced to E-7, E-8, or E-9. exchange new<?
