Grindy clobbers VP-49, 22-6
Grindy toppled VP-49, 22-6, in the
1976 touch football double elimination
tournament Wednesday in the season's
first game.
Grindy opened the scoring early in
the first half by sacking Vildly In the
end zone for a 2-0 score.
Both teams made excellent defensive
plays throughout the first half, but
Grindy extended its lead to 8-0 on a 16-
yarder to O'Dell.
In the second half, Grindy again led
with Spillers' passing and running, mak-
ing it 14-0 on a 7-yd. pass to Herly.
VP-49 quickly closed the gap to 14-6
on a 5-yd. pass from Wildly to Krayer.
Grindy closed the scoring on a 16-
yarder to Babuela for a 22-6 victory.
In the second game, CFK downed Det.
14, 18-14.
Both teams, each possessing excellent
passing, had two quarterbacks with the
ability to pass and run in Rick Garlie
of Det. 14 and Ken Cason of CFK. Each
of them threw a pair of touchdown passes
to their respective receivers to keep
the score close until Cason’s 55-yd.
burst up field put CFK on top to stay.
