Exchange news
by Darlene Johnson
Good deals in the Keflavik Navy Ex-
change are rather commonplace.
Exchanges are sanctioned only for the
use of authorized people and their bona-
fide dependents, and these facilities
exist to offer them a measure of econom-
ic equality and shopping convenience.
Buying for unauthorized persons is a
violation of the law and spirit which
govern exchange operations.
Making unauthorized purchases is not
only illegal but also it is foolish.
The offender not only risks embarrass-
ment and possible suspension of shop-
ping privileges but also jeopardizes the
well-being of an operation that exists
primarily to serve. Additionally, il-
legal buying of certain items can and
does create shortages, thereby short-
changing the innocent customer.
Almost everyone enjoys being regarded
as a valuable contact and a "nice guy".
However, unauthorized purchasing is not
nice at all. It is a betrayal to the
special community to which the wrongdoer
claims membership.
For these and other equally important
reasons, the Navy Exchange staff asks
all of its customers to do their part in
preventing unauthorized purchases. Pro-
tect your exchange and its future by
politely refusing to buy NEX merchan-
dise and services for people who are not
entitled. In so doing, you'll be acting
truly nice...to the Navy Exchange,-your-
self and others.
ENCYCLOPAEDIA BRITANNICA RETURNS
Mr. Norris, the Encyclopaedia Britan-
nica salesman, has returned once again.
Mr. Norris will be displaying and taking
orders for these educational books in
the Navy Exchange Main Retail Store An-
nex. He is expected to stay from today
until April 28. Stop by and take ad-
vantage of this savings.
NEX/Commissary
meeting slated
The next meeting of the Navy Ex-
change Commissary Board will be held
during the latter part of May.
Representatives of clubs/groups-
activities have been requested to submit
their comments/critiques to the Naval
Station Administration Department by
May 5.
Contact your representative if you
desire to submit any items. The fol-
lowing is a list of the Joint Navy
Exchange/Commissary Board members:
STAMPS AFTER HOURS
For patron convenience, stamp machines
are located in the Navy Lodge and Bks.
759. If you ever need stamps on the
weekend or after Post Office hours, keep
these locations in mind. Should you
find that the machines need servicing,
contact the Vending Dept, at 4575.
CREW'S BARBER SHOP TO RELOCATE
Monday, the Navy Exchange Crew's Bar-
ber Shop will be closed for relocation
into the Viking Bldg. This move is
part of the progress in the Viking Bldg,
that will eventually include many ser-
vices under one roof.
ESTEE LAUDER MEN'S SPECIAL
Starting April 28, Aramis will offer
the "Aramis Hair Basic Kit" free with
any $7.50 Aramis purchase. This spe-
cial will continue only while supplies
last, so be sure to take advantage of
this offer and discover hair care the
Aramis way. See your Estee Lauder
beauty advisor for further information.
LIGHTS ARE COMING
With more and more Americans be-
coming weight-conscious, the consumer
market is full of lower calorie, lower
carbohydrate food items.
The malt beverage market is no
different.
Almost all major beer companies are
marketing light beer—beer which is
lower in calories and carbohydrates
than regular beer. These "light"
beers are having an impact on the total
malt beverage market as demands grow
for lower calorie beer.
NEX has received numerous requests
for a number of lights.
The exchange has on order two of
the most popular "lights". "Schlitz
Light" is expected to arrive soon and
"Miller Light" should be arriving
within 45 days.
If there are other varieties you
would like to see, drop in and leave
word with Dee at the Beverage Store
or call the Food Services Office at
5273.

TOURS &
TRAVEL
By Magna Gudmundsdottir
Copenhagen
The Tour Office has arranged for a
special package for the C-118 passen-
gers going to Copenhagen May 25 to June
2.
The package includes hotel accommo-
dations, breakfast, transfer airport/
hotel/airport and a half day sight-
seeing tour. Reservations must be made
by May 5. Why not make yours as soon
as you are reconfirmed on the flight?
You haven't been in Copenhagen if you
haven't been in Tivoli. The world fa-
mous amusement park was built in 1843
by Georg Cartensen on top of the old
fortifications.
Today, Tivoli Boy Guard's music, pipes
and drums are the only reminders of
military tradition. In the luminous
summer nights, people from all over the
world stream into Tivoli, to the pan-
tomime theater, ballet, concert hall,
open-air variety, amusements and re-
staurants .
There are several entrances to the
Tivoli—one side entrance is right a-
cross the street from the Copenhagen
station while the main entrance is on
Vesterbrogade.
Before you visit Tivoli with its
charming little walks, beautiful little
gardens and colorful lights, take a look
at the "Program" poster. Many shows
take place at the Tivoli—and most of
these are free such as the ones at the
famous Pantomime Theater or at the open-
air stage. And don't be surprised to
have the opportunity to see internation-
ally famous artists and performers. For'
details about such shows look for the
poster "Koncertsalen."
