The floor remains slightly slippery for about 24 hours after waxing. Gum rubber soled shoes are the only shoes authorized for the gym floor. Outdoor running shoes, made of hard rubber, skid a lot on freshly "uSS" "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the most promising junior officer of all?" waxed floors. Patrons with the hard rubber soled shoes are endangering themselves and others, the gym staff states. Before buying athletic shoes, read the instructions for best usage, the Athletic Division re- minds . Dick Slowey kicked off the tournament with his first drive one second past midnight, met the challenge of his first hole attempt to win the long drive com- petition with a 220-yard smash into the wind on the ninth hole. After having a rules meeting, a four-man best ball format was adopted; the team event was won with a one over par (37).
