ICE AND FIRE—The Ice and Fire
Theater Group announces tryouts
for the upcoming production,
"Nightwatch," a suspense drama.
Tryouts will be held tomorrow at
1 p.m. and Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Bldg T-183.

RAF PRIFST—Father Bob Bailey, a
RAF priest from Scotland, will be
on base Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday. An Episcopal service will
be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the
base chapel.
NAVCOMSTA WOMEN—NavComSta Women’s
Club will hold their monthly meet-
ing Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Otrs
5 Elm apt. 3A.
R/C CLUB—Wings Over Iceland Model
R/C Club will meet Sunday at the
USO music room at 5 p.m. to discuss
the PTO carnival.
’78-’79 Season
Basketball bounces off 0
The 1978-79 basketball season
started off on a high note with
the base team defeating Njardvik
86-74 in a recent game.
Njardvik, smarting from the
earlier loss, played a rematch
game and pounded out a 107-66 vic-
tory. The Naval Station's next
opponent, Flugedir, went down to
defeat, 90-83.
Both the base men's and women's
teams saw action last week. IR,
one of Reykjavik's leading teams,
split the two-game outing. Led by
the strong playing of Cheri Autry,
the station defeated IR ladies,
24-20.
The IR men's team, led by its
stateside recruited coach Paul
Stewart, defeated the base men's
team, 97-72.
The base men's team played host
to Volvo a team from Akureyri. The
station team led by Morgan's 52
point spread, easily defeated Volvo,
102-87.
All-Stars win soccer match
A. T. Mahan High School All-Star
girls played Njardvik last week in
an international soccer match,
edging the Whalers, 1-0.
The first half was a scoreless
battle as the All-Stars founds
themselves on the defensive mostly.
Only saves by goalkeeper Elizabeth
Slowey kept the Whalers from
scoring. Also keeping the Whalers
at bay were Amy Waldron and Maria
Maticko.
Center halfback Denise Parker
and center forward Frankie White
provided offensive moves for the
All-Stars.
Stacy Reeves displayed drib-
bling techniques that broke her
loose several times, but the
Whalers stopped her cold with
blocking tactics as she fell to
the turf several times during
the half.
KSOA hold first
clinic
Goalkeeper Hilda Annmagnasson-
dottir tried to block the at-
tempt but failed as the ball
zipped past her into the goal
with 10 minutes left in the con-
test.
Six teams vie for
football title
The 1978 flag football season
will close. A successful out-
doors sports program will close
with the Navy vs. Air Force Pow-
der Puff flag football game tomor-
row, starting at 1 p.m. The Pow-
der Puff game will be followed by
the playoff for the intramural
base flag football championship.
Six teams will by vying for the
flag football championship: NSGA,
Admirals, High School, Admin, Ma-
rines and Det. 2.
At presstime, NSGA was unde-
feated, sporting a 10-0 record.
NSGA promises to be the tourney
favorite although the Admirals have
a highly respectable 9-2 record,
followed by a Det. 2 9-3 .furies.
The Keflavik Sports Officials
Association (KSOA) will hold its
first basketball officials clinic
tomorrow at 8 a.m. at Qtrs 617-E.
All KSOA members and prospective
members who desire to officiate
basketball in the upcoming intra-
mural leagues are required to at-
tend .
Scorelceepers and timekeepers
are encouraged to attend the offi-
cials clinics to gain further un-
derstanding of the rules beyond
those concerning strictly scoring
and timing.

Gym notes
The 1978 sports award banquet
will be held Nov. 10 at the Glacier
Hut.
The agenda is as follows:
6- 7 p.m.: Social hour.
7- 8 p.m.: Buffet dinner, cater-
ed by the Fil-Am Association, will
consist of roast pig, lechon,
fried rice, lumpia, sweet and sour
pork, steam boat round and pansit.
8- 9 p.m.: Sports awards pre-
sentation.
9- ?: Iive music.
