MOVIES A. HERE COME THE TIGERS—Comedy (PG). Little League baseball team, the Piddleton Tigers is a haven for misfits. It looks like there is no hope until a small Oriental boy joins the team and belts out an endless stream of homers. (97 min.) B. THE TURNING POINT—Drama (PG). A diverting story of two women, who remain friends as one becomes a great ballet star and the other retires to raise a family. Stars Anne Bancroft and Shirley MacLaine. (119 min.) C. THE BETSY—Drama (R). Retired auto tycoon, Lau- rence Olivier, hires racer Tommy Lee Jones to design a revolutionary car to be named after Olivier's great- granddaughter, Betsy. Also stars Robert Duvall, Lesley-Anne Down and Katherine Ross. (125 min.) D. FM—Comedy (PG). QSKY, a Los Angeles FM station, becomes the No. 1 station through the efforts of its easy-going manager (Michael Brandon). Soundtrack consists of the most outstanding rock groups 'of 1977— 78. Also stars Eileen Brennan. (110 min.) E. DANNY—Drama (G). Twelve-year-old Janie loves horses and spends as much time at the stables as pos- sible. Her family is too poor to buy her a horse, but her dreams come true when she receives one as a gift from an unknown benefactor. (89 min.) F. THE COMPETITION—Drama (PG). The world of clas- sical music brings together six aspiring pianists in a recital contest. Richard Dreyfuss and Amy Irving meet and fall deeply in love during several days that they must wait to make their appearance. (126 min.) G. NEW YEAR'S EVIL—Horror drama (R) . Roz Kelly is a punk rock DJ doing a live television show on New Year's Eve. Kip Niven is going around town killing people and calling Kelly to tell him about it. Niven then decides to try to kill Kelly. (86 min.) H. OLLY OLLY OXEN FREE—Drama (G). Katherine Hepburn and Kevin McKenzie star in the story of a nine-year- old boy who is planning to celebrate his late grand- father's birthday by flying the circus balloon his grandfather once did as the "Great Sandusky." (89 min.) I. AN UNMARRIED WOMAN—Drama (R). Jill Clayburgh and Michael Murphy separate after 16- years when he falls in love with another woman. Jill is shocked and humi- liated and finds she can't adjust to the single life. (124 min.J J. ARABIAN ADVENTURE—Adventure (G). A magic mirror, an evil sorcerer, a handsome prince, a beautiful prin- cess and genies combine to make this movie fun for all. (99 min.) K. SCANNERS—Horror drama (R). "Scanners" are special people born with the ability to control or destroy other people through telepathy. Stars Jennifer O'Neill and Patrick McGoohan. (103 min.) L. LOVING COUPLES—Comedy (PG). Mate swapping is in full "swing" in this movie starring Shirley MacLaine, James Coburn, Susan Sarandon and Stephen Collins. (98 min. ) tv M. THEY WENT THAT A'WAY—Comedy (G). Tim Conway and Chuck McCann are policemen assigned to go to prison and find out where money from a robbery is hidden. Unfortunately, the only person who knows of their mission dies. (102 min.) N. GOING COCONUTS—Comedy (PG). Donny and Marie Os- mond travel to Honolulu to perform at the Royal Hawaiian and accidentally get involved with some under- world characters. (103 min.) O. THE PASSAGE—Drama (R). A Basque shepherd (Anthony Quinn) reluctantly agrees to transport an important refugee scientist (James Mason) through an icy pass in the Pyrenees connecting occupied France with Spain during World War II. (99 min.) P. QUINTET—Drama (R). Paul Newman, Brigitte Fossey and Vittorio Gassman star in this film, which received neither critical nor box-office success. (119 min.) R. CALIFORNIA DREAMING—Comedy drama (R). Young Dennis Christopher arrives from Chicago to stay at State Beach, California, for the summer and hopefully follow in his late brother's footsteps as a trumpet player. Stars Glynnis O'Connor and Seymour Cassel. (100 min.) S■ ALLIGATOR—Horror drama (R). Ramone is a baby alligator dumped into the toilet. He survives for 12 years growing to be 36 feet long and weighing one ton. Cast includes Robin Riker and Robert Forster. (91 min.) T. RAGING BULL—Drama (R). Robert DeNiro won an Academy Award for his portrayal of boxing champion Jake La Motta.
