TOUR OFFICE
On July 4 the Tour Office is
scheduling a tour around the
Reykjanes peninsula, to the bird-
cliffs at Hafnarbjorg, a large
light house and hot springs.
The bus passes through the fishing
village of Grindavik and the hot
spring area of Krysuvik. This road
goes through the most desolated
country, but as in many other parts
of Iceland, there is a special
kind of beauty and the stark sim-
plicity of nature to be seen every-
where.
A visit to the greenhouses in
Hveragerdi and a possible swim in
the large outdoor swimming pool are
the highlights of this tour. Be
sure to take your swimsuit along.
On the July 4th weekend, you can
take a two-day camping trip into
Iceland's interior, led by an ex-
perienced guide. Lava and ash can
be viewed as the bus heads for
Landmannalaugar, which is said to
be Iceland's richest spot in variety
and color. You will camp there over-
night, enjoying the natural pools
warmed by the hot springs in this
area.
From Landmannalaugar, you will
ride to the largest volcanic
fissure known on earth, Eldgja.
One of the most picturesque and
beautiful waterfalls in Iceland,
Ofaerufoss, is located there.
From July 7 to 14 you can enjoy
the sun in Mallorca, Spain. The
price includes airfare and accom-
modation at a four-star hotel with
half board.
Call the Tour Office at 4420
or 4200 for more information.
