Then Dink watched as the little girl pushed a frayed cord into an outlet. The cord started to smoke as the toaster button was pushed down. Dink looked up at his father and said, "Dad, maybe it is time for us to find a safer home to live in?" "I agree," said the father, "let's go pack our bags." Operation EDITH was conducted in family housing areas on Wednesday, October 12. Fire Department officials estimate that ap- proximately 90 percent of the families oc- cupying government quarters participated in the event. In addition to all of the above, Navy Broadcasting Service provided substantial amounts of public service time on both radio and television in support of the Fire Pre- vention theme. In addition they have lost their privilege of driving a private auto or a government vehicle on any military in- stallation, worldwide, for a 12 month period of time. The final scores were: NCS 37, AFI/SP 13; PW 13, Commissary /Comptroller 2. In the final game Public Works squeaked by NCS with a score of 13 to 12 for the base championship. Congratula- tions Public Works. The games were held at the football field. All basketball rosters must be in by the close of business tomorrow. Sche- dules can be picked up by close of business Tuesday. The season will start next Satur- day at 9:30 a.m. The gym now has Kempo Karate classes available. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-8 p.m. There is also a class held on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. for children under 16. Personnel interested in running in a half marathon (13.1 miles) tomorrow at 10 a.m. may sign up at the base gym prior to starting time. For more information on any of these programs contact the gym. Holy Day masses November 1 is a Holy Day of Obligation for all Roman Catholics, in honor of All Saints Day. The following is the Mass schedule for the holyday celebrations. October 31: 7 p.m. November 1: 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. November 2: 7 p.m. in the Blessed Sacra- ment Chapel in honor of All Souls Day.
