The Blafjoll ski area, the
English translation is Blue
Mountain, has opened for the
winter season and offers a

Here are some of the facilities
available at Blue Mountain:
□ Two chair lifts
□ Six T-bars
□ Tows for children
V Some lifts are lit for night
skiing.
Blafjoll is approximately a two
hour drive from the NATO Base.
To get there, take a right at the
first red-light after entering
Reykjavik (the street is called
Miklabraut), turn right again for
Route #1 South (the direction of
Hveragerdi), look for the sign
which reads Blafjoll.
If you are in Reykjavik already,
buses leave from the Bus
Terminal at 10 a.m. and 1:30
p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
They leave on Monday and Fridays
at 2 p. m., and at 2, 4 and 6 p. m.
on Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursdays. The Reykjavik bus
terminal phone number is
91-83222.
Military personnel can ride a
bus to Blue Mountain from the
NATO Base with a ticket purchased
from the Tour Office for the price
of $10. Gear issue has both
downhill and cross-country ski
outfits available for $3.50 a day,
each includes skis, poles, ski
boots and boot carriers. Outfits
are also available for children.

per day
□ Season pass, 4800Kr. for 16

□ 140Kr. for adults and 75Kr.
for children
Two tickets are required for
the chairlift, one for all others.
