The Navy Lodge: The first & last home for some By J02 Ed Baker For most families on the NATO Base the Navy Lodge is their first and la3t home while on the island, and for sponsors scheduling accomodations for incoming families or TAD/TDY personnel it can be a place of uncertainty. This is because of the limited rooms available at the lodge. But before I cover this matter, let's take a look at the lodge. The Navy Lodge which is over 30 years old, is a 31 unit hotel comprised of 11 kitchen units, eight family room units, eight single adjoining units, 3 single private units, and one apartment. The kitchen units have two double beds, one roll out sofa, a kitchen (no oven), a private bath and a television. The family room unit consists of everything the kitchen units do with the exception of cooking facilities. The single private and single adjoining units both have two double beds and a TV, but that's where they part company. The private units have separate bathrooms, whereas the adjoining units share a Personal Perspective— Once the credit cards are usuable at Navy Exchange bathroom. This can be a convenience when two single rooms are needed by the same occupant. And last, but not least, is the popularly sought after apartment. This unit is the largest in the lodge and contains two bedrooms. One has a double bed and the other has two single beds. The apartment also has a roll-out sofa, a television, a washer, a coin-operated dryer, and a kitchen. This room is reserved for large numbered families. The prices on these units range from $20-33. Other facilities offered at the lodge include a car rental service, a video movie rental outlet, Icelandic woolen goods outlet, a coin-operated laundromat, food and drink vending machines, and arcade game machines. Also available to tenants on a first come first served basis are cribs, strollers, and walkers for infants. Now let's take a look at the reservation requirements. Recently the question of priority room assignments have increased because people Please see LODGE on pg. 11 , do you feel this will influence your spending? Edward Cl3ev — The credit cards will enable me to purchase something right away instead of waiting and taking the chance of the item being gone later. It will also leave my spending option wide open. JacQuelin Oliver — The credit cards won't influ- ence my spending, but it will help the lines move faster and save time. Octavia Jones— I hope the credit card availa- bility won’t influence my spending. It will make it a lot easier spending money especially when you don't have ready cash. Steve Zellinqer -- The credit cards here won't influence my spending, but I can see how it may influence others. Pur- chasing goods will be readily available.
