Icelandic
broad-
casts in
the
television
evening
every
day
except Thurs-
days. The
following will give an idea of the
programming, but for exact times
consult the daily newspapers.
Weeknights there is a program
for children beginning at 7 con-
sisting mostly of animated films.
The news and weather begin at 8
followed by five or 10 minutes of
advertisements.
Mondays: Pop music, sports,
and a play, often in English.
Tuesdays: A documentary
program, a music program and a
thriller series.
Wednesdays: Pop music and a
documentary series.
Thursdays: No television.
Fridays: Highlights of recent
events at home and abroad, a
thriller series, and a movie.
Saturdays: The Cosby Show
and a movie.
Sundays: Children's hour be-
ginning at 6:10 p.m., a docu-
mentary, a comedy show, and a
thriller series.
Icelandic State Radio broad-
casts two separate programs
daily: Radio 1 on longwave 1435
and on FM 93.5 and 98MHZ. Pro-
gramming attempts to provide
something for all tastes. The
news is reported at noon and 7
p. m. every day. A summary of
the news is read in English every
day at 8:JO a. m.
Radio 2 broadcasts pop music
daily from 10 a.m. to noon, 2 to
6 p.m. and 8 to midnight.
There are not (yet) any private
radio stations in Iceland.
