Public Works Department bestows awards by J02 Kerry Honore “Congratulations for a job well done," stated Commander William H. Gwinn, Executive Officer of NAS, Keflavik, to Public Works Department employees Cynthia Hallett, Lawrence M. Moss and Bianca Nakovics. For Hallett and Nakovics the congrat- ulations were more than just a hand shake, both women received a Superior Performance Award for the amount of $500 or more. Hallett received the award for her "sound judgment in making deci- sions that have brought about the reso- lution of problems while working as the Housing Project Assistant." Nakovics re- ceived her award for her "knowledge of office procedures and dedication to complete complex tasks assigned to her while working in the Public Works' Secretary group." The award was estab- lished for personnel who won't be stationed here long enough to receive a pay increase. To be eligible for this award workers must complete 52 weeks of employment and be nominated for the award by their supervisor . Moss received the Quality Step Increase from Cmdr. Gwinn, which will increase his pay by $500 or more a year. Moss was also praised for his unique manner of problem solving and superior professional skills. Lawrence J. Mullen The deadline is rapidly approaching for overseas personnel to register and receive an absentee ballot for the November 4, general election in the United States. This year we will be electing all the members of the U.S. House of Representatives, one third of the U.S. Senate, 39 state governors, and numerous state and local government officials. If you will be overseas on election day and want to vote, you must register and request a ballot from the election officials at your place of legal residence. It is as easy as sending a postcard home to register and request an absentee ballot by using the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). You can obtain a FPCA from your command or department voting assistance representative. Then all you need VOTE! to do is complete the FPCA here and send it to your local voting official prior to Aug. 30, in order to allow sufficient time for a ballot to be mailed to you overseas prior to the election date. If you have trouble getting help at the command or de- partment level, call the NAS Legal Office at exten- sion 7991. Voting assistance s provided to all active duty servicemembers, civilian DOD- employees, and dependents.
