SPORTS continued-
IDF/CFK down IPC with 5 seconds to play
With five seconds left to play, Mark Heuser
swished the final shot to give IDF/CFK a 47-45
victory over Iceland Prime Contractors (IPC) in
basketball action last Friday night.
After tying the score more than a dozen times In
the second half, IDF/CFK called time-out with 1:21
remaining and the game tied 43-43. IDF/CFK
brought the ball back in and stalled, running time
off the clock. On a broken play, Heuser grabbed
the offensive rebound and made the shot to put
IDF/CFK up by two. IPC quickly countered on the
other end of the court to tie the score again.
IDF/CFK brought the ball down court and Heuser hit
the offensive boards once more and gave his team
the winning basket. Heuser finished the game with
14 points.
First half play was extremely sluggish by IDF/CFK
and nearing the end of the half, it looked as if IPC
would pull away. But, T.J. Thompson scored 10
points in the last 3:50 to lead an IDF/CFK charge that
tied the score 23-23. Thompson hit two critical
shots from three point range in the game and led all
scorers with 23 points. Jon Orn had 21 points to
lead IPC.
In other Friday night action, NCS 'A' Team slipped
by VP-44, 48-46, in overtime. In the final game,
Billeting/PSD downed AWACS 63-52.
