FYI’s (For Your Information) Announcements The A. T. Mahan Elementary School Parent/Teacher Organization is having a book fair tomorrow from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. Cash or checks are excepted. Come out and get a great stocking stuffer. The AIMD Spouses’ Association has ‘89 cookbooks for sale. Get one for $3 or two for $5. For more information, contact Olga at 2137 or 4022. The hospital is sponsoring a Health Care Consumer Council meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Andrews Theater. The passenger service counter will only be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Monday. It will be open 24 hours on Tuesday for rotator check-in. For ticket information, call Joanne Houk at 4801. The Keflavfk Youth Athletic Association is looking for indoor soccer officials. The season runs through Dec. 8. The Child Care Advisory Committee will meet Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Child Care Center. The 29th annual Christmas Party for the first grade children in Grindavfk will be held Dec. 13 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the Grindavik Transmitter Site barracks and galley. For more details, contact Chief Petty Officer Mayes at 2599. Studded snow tires can now be installed on any vehicle. They must be removed no later than April 15, 1991, according to Icelandic law. Prenatal exercise classes are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1:30 pm in the base gym. All new and expectant mothers are invited. The classes are free of charge. Stop by and enjoy the fun! The Keflavfk Coin Club will hold a meeting Sunday at 3 p.m. in the second deck lounge of BEQ 744. The Hispanic American Society will hold an induction party Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. in the Community Center. It’s open to all club members and to any NATO Base resident interested in participating in their, celebra- tion. Please bring a dish or dessert. Family Service Center Spouse Employment Assistance Program (SEAP). The spouse employment coordina- tor will inform you of the various base em- ployment locations, how to fill out job applications, and the current job climate. This program is open to all base community residents who desire employment and need to know where to start. It takes place every Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. The Family Service Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day. Christmas shopping in Iceland is the topic of a seminar being offered Nov. 28 from noon until 1 p.m. This workshop will inform you about holiday shopping in Reykjavik and surrounding areas. The SF 171 workshop will be held Nov. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. If you have decided to join the community work force, but don’t know where to start the employment process, this workshop is for you. Sponsor training will be held Nov. 29 from 9 a. m. to noon. Arrangements to attend must be made through your training officer. How to talk so kids will listen and listen so kids will talk. Learn new ways to com- municate with your children by producing positive feedback. This six-part, structured workshop will use illustrated workbooks and homework assignments. The program presenter, an FSC counselor, will help you practice new skills, to leant new patterns and unlearn old ones. To achieve a better understanding of parent/child communica- tion, join the group for part four Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This workshop will continue for two more consecutive Tues- days. The Single Parents Group meets Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. All classes are held at the FSC unless otherwise indicated. Fewer than five registrations may result in a workshop being canceled. CFK bake sale today at 5:30 p.m. Subs are the food special today. Pizza is the food special tomorrow. “Workin’ Cheap” band at the Sand Hut, tomorrow at 8 p.m. Pancakes will be served all day Sunday. Monday’s food special is a club sandwich and onion rings. Tuesday’s food special is a taco salad. Rotator breakfast will be held Wednesday at 7 a.m. Cheese sticks is the special Wednesday. A special movie will be played at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Thanksgiving Day buffet for single and unaccompanied personnel beginning at 2 p.m. (Grill closed for buffet; gift shop closed) Upcoming events: Blue Lagoon trips leave the USO Friday at 5:45 p.m. and Sunday at 3:15 p.m. The USO needs your help to provide food and services for the holiday season. They need turkeys, canned green beans, com and desserts for the single/unaccompanied Thanksgiving meal, as well as volunteers to help cook and serve for Christmas. The USO also needs donations of wrapping paper, bows, tags, markers and miscellane- ous art supplies and volunteers to help with the many Christmas programs they have planned. During the holiday season the USO will provide a program to unite single/unaccom- panied individuals with on-base families willing to share the season’s cheer and blessings. Call 6113 if you wish to partici- pate as a family or individual in this Thanksgiving/Christmas program. USO ski sale Dec. 1 at the USO. Breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at the USO. Christmas Crafts Fair Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Center. A College N6tes University of Maryland students desiring to sell used text books to other students are encouraged to call 4408 or drop by the UMD office. Books of particular interest this term are: ENGL 101, GNSC 160, AFSM 201, MATH 100 and SPCH 107. Students wishing to enroll in ENGL 101 or any math course (CCC or UMD) are required to take a placement test in order to receive tuition assistance. Testing is recommended for all students.
