Naval Air Station, Keflavik

For the most part, the first half
of Northern Viking (NV) ‘93 was
like the week before the “big
game.” The planners and coordi-
nators, like the coaches of a foot-
ball team, gathered behind closed
doors, pulled out the charts, dia-
grams and plan books and pre-
pared for events to come. When
the “game” actually got under-
way and the planned strategy was
brought to the playing field, all
“players” at Naval Air Station
(NAS), Keflavik, got a chance to
prove their skills.
The two-week exercise, which
concluded today, was a unique
opportunity to test the emergency
response capabilities of all five
branches of the U. S. military as
well as civilian components at
NAS, Keflavik. The scenarios
played out during the exercise
