Second baseman Julie Hash’s three-run, inside-the-park
homer in the fifth inning sparked 35th Supply to a 13-4 rout
over Weapons Sunday afternoon at the gym field.
With the win, 35th Supply improved its record to 6-5, while
Weapons fell to 8-3.
Although the home run provided much of 35th Supply’s
offensive output, team captain John Monroe points out that
it was a defensive play that helped inspire the team. “We
stole their momentum in the fourth inning when we turned a
double play with the score tied at four,” he says. “But it was
Julie’s home run that put us over the top, we just kept scor-
ing after that.”
Weapons’ team captain Bill College, though disappointed
with the loss, was pleased with the three double plays the
team made. For the team it was a season-high record. Two
of the plays were made by Barb Elliot and Pam Moubies and
another by Moubies and Frank Twiss.
