It’s a great place to chow down with a beer, but that could just be, like, our opinion man. 2 Hverfisgata 12 Hverfisgata 12 In an era when everyone is obsessed with visibility and self-promotion, Hverfisgata 12 attracts its own crowd through word of mouth and nothing more. It offers the kind of pizzas you are unlikely to have tried before, with inventive toppings such as barbecue sauce, shredded pork, pears, roasted seeds and horseradish cream. Their bacon and egg pizza is to die for, don’t miss it. 3 Matur og Drykkur Grandagarður 2 Located in the achingly trendy Grandi area, Matur og Drykkur ("Food and Drink") focuses on delivering old Icelandic recipes in a fresh manner. Think less touristy treats like pickled shark, and more authentic Icelandic food like kálbögglar. 4 Mandi Veltusund 3b Here you’ll find the perfect lunch for a sunny day, the perfect meal after a night out and the best bite for your hangover. Whatever it is you crave, the friendly staff of Mandi understands. They prepare the freshest hummus and tastiest shawarmas—just remember to ask for extra spice. They’ll know what you mean. 5 Ostabúðin Skólavörðustígur 8 In addition to stocking all the fancy cheeses one can imagine, this shop also offers a daily lunch that has plentiful dishes on offer, including a catch of the day and fresh bruschetta. 5 3 10 B 9 1 6 2 BANKASTRÆTI 7A - 101 REYKJAVÍK - TEL. 562 3232 E L E G A N T P R E M I S E S I N T H E H E A R T O F R E Y K J A V I K B R U N C H L U N C H A N D D I N N E R M E N U L O C A L A N D F O R E I G N D I S H E S B A R B A N K A S T R Æ T I 7 A - 1 0 1 R E Y K J AV Í K - T E L . 5 6 2 3 2 3 2 4 Party Every Night • Cocktails Live Sports Coverage Ribs - Burgers Live Music Every Night Chicken Wings 50 different kinds of beer AUSTURSTRAETI 8 • REYKJAVIK 18 17 15 Map 6 Sky Lounge & Bar Ingólfsstræti 1 The lounge is located in a beautiful spot that overlooks all of downtown Reykjavík and pro- vides a great setting to either host a celebration or introspectively appreciate the city. 7 Tíu Dropar Laugavegur 27 Located in a small, cozy basement on Laugavegur, Tíu Dropar is one of Iceland’s oldest cafés. During the day it serves a selection of coffee, tea and food (including grandma-style pancakes). Quick before it closes up! 8 Kaffi Kigali Ingólfsstræti 8 This quaint little coffee house, tucked away just off of main shopping street Laugavegur, offers a variety of Rwandan coffee drinks with beans straight from the farmer at very affordable rates, including the must-try Afríkano drink. 9 Loft Hostel Bankastræti 7 With a brilliant location right in the centre of the action, the views from the upstairs bar and rooftop patio at the Loft Hostel can't be more entertaining. This hostel is also a hotspot for live music and hobnobbing. 11 Open weekdays 07:30 – 18:00 Open weekends 09:30 – 18:00 OLDEST RESTAURANT IN ICELAND Kaffivagninn Grandagarði 10 · 101 Reykjavík +354 551 5932 · kaffivagninn@kaffivagninn.is kaffivagninn.is SITUATED BY THE OLD Reykjavík harbour SOUP OF THE DAY AND COFFEE INCLUDED on weekdays from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm 12 G
