Vestmanneyjar is an ideal location for bird watching. At one of the main
attractions of Heimaey, the cape of Stórhöfði, you will have great view of puffins
in their natural habitat. Vestmannaeyjar is also famous for its other abundant
seabird life, so you can expect to see many other species of seabirds, as well
as others.
Puffins are the most popular birds with visitors to lceland, and between April
and August no visitor should be disappointed, as lceland boasts the world's
largest puffin population and Vestmannaeyjar is host to the largest puffin
colony in Europe. Real Puffin enthusiasts should make the trip to Heimaey,
where the influence of puffins is everywhere.
