Our Picks
Out of Controll in RVK
Ugh & Boogar Jewellery
October 12-November 30, i8 Gallery
After letting
his trolls, Ugh
& Boogar, run
amok at the
Venice Biennale
earlier this year in
a sprawling and
confounding mul-
timedia explosion
“Out of Controll in
Venice”, Berlin-
based artist Egill
Sæbjörnsson re-
turns to Reykjavík
for a victory lap.
Apparently based
on an exten-
sion of his troll
concept, his new
solo exhibition is
entitled “Ugh &
Boogar Jewel-
lery,” and turns
the gallery into
a plush blue en-
vironment filled
with… well. Your
guess is as good
as ours. Shiny
artefacts and
strings of rocks.
Troll jewellery? It
seems so. Head
over to i8 gallery
on Hafnarstræti
if you feel like
taking a swing at
this particularly
odd, cartoonish,
troll-infested
riddle. JR
