AN INTRODUCTION:
Yes, This Is Summer
Summer is here! That’s right, it’s time
to pack away your parka, put the ther-
mal socks and 66°NORTH hats in the
closet—and then immediately get
them out again, because it’s suddenly
started shitting down with snow in
the middle of May. How do you like
Iceland?
But don’t let the unfortunate
weather derail you. Even if it’s unsea-
sonably nasty outside, there are still
a hundred fun ways to pass a day in
Reykjavík. Whether you’re a foodie,
a music nerd, an art lover, a nature
enthusiast, a bored local, or a full-
blown Icelandophile, this magazine is
stuffed with information on the best
ways to enjoy the city in any weather.
Making this magazine is a fun pro-
cess. We assemble panels of seasoned
experts to help us identify the shifting
trends of the city; from the best bars
and venues, to the newest restaurants,
boutiques, hang out spots, museums,
and lots more. It turns out people have
some pretty heated opinions about
where you can find the best burger
in town, which is the best craft bar to
spend a night in, or in which pool you
should ease away the hangover. We
think our panels’ conclusions are pret-
ty on point, and we hope you agree.
Let us know your thoughts at letters@
grapevine.is.
Be sure to pick up a copy of The
Reykjavík Grapevine for concert list-
ings, news, travel and culture, and a
Best of Iceland magazine for tips on
hotels, hikes, and must-see spots out
in the countryside. Also, our Appy
Hour app for iPhone and Android will
help you to drink on the cheap, and the
Appening app will point you to the
funnest events in town.
Enjoy the magazine, and this un-
predictable Icelandic summer!
