instances both offices are filled by one and the
same person.
Iceland has no army or navy, and by the Union
Act her perpetual neutrality is established. By
power of the same Act she is represented abroad
by the diplomatic and consular representatives
of Denmark.

Revenues Financially last year (1926) was in
and many respects adverse. The summer
Expenditure, was unusually wet and for that rea-
son haymaking and the drying of
fish were done under great difficulties; the yield
of the fisheries was below the average; practically
all exports had to be sold at unsatisfactory prices,
and the industrial disturbances in England reacted
unfavourably upon Icelandic industries. The na-
tional revenues of the fiscal year balanced at
12.477.000 kr., the revenue exceeding the expendi-
ture by some 48.000 kr. only.
