It is proposed to publish from time to time in the
Year-Book portraits of some of the Danish Consular and
Diplomatic representatives who have rendered the greatest
services to Iceland, as well as of prominent foreign Ice-
landic scholars who have conspicuously taken a friendly
interest in the country. In the present issue space has been
available for only four out of the large number we should
like thus to recognize.
