Utgáfa bóka um utanríkisverslun ár hvert markar lokin á
úrvinnslu talna um vöruviðskipti Islendinga við aðrar þjóðir
á næstliðnu ári. Hagstofan gefur út tvö rit um þetta efni.
I þessu riti, Utanríkisverslun eftir tollskrárnúmerum, er
birt nákvæm sundurliðun útflutnings og innflutnings eftir
einstökum númerum tollskrár og sundurgreining á lönd
innan hvers tollskrámúmers. I inngangi er gerð grein fyrir
gögnum, aðferðum, skilgreiningu, flokkun og úrvinnslu.
Hagstofan gefur einnig út ritið Utanríkisverslun, vöru-
flokkar og viðskiptalönd. I því riti er birt yfirlit um utan-
ríkisverslunina í heild, birtar töflur um útflutning og inn-
flutning eftir vömflokkum og sundurgreindar töflur um
verslun við einstöklönd og markaðssvæði. Það rit er jafnframt
gefið út á ensku undir heitinu Icelandic Extemal Trade,
Commodities and countries.
Á Hagstofunni hafa Auður Ólína S vavarsdóttir haft umsjón
með útgáfunum, Þóra Gylfadóttir sá um gerð texta toll-
skrámúmera ásamt Margréti Káradóttur sem einnig útbjó
viðauka. Sigurborg Steingrímsdóttir annaðist umbrot en
ensk þýðing var í höndum Jónínu M. Guðnadóttur.

Preface
The publication by Statistics Iceland of reports on extemal
trade each year marks the conclusion of the processing of
Icelandic trade data for the preceding year. Each year Statis-
tics Iceland publishes two separate works under the title
Extemal Trade.
The present publication, Utanríkisverslun eftir tollskrár-
númerum (Icelandic External Trade by HS Numbers), con-
tains detailed tables of exports and imports by individual
customs tariff numbers and, within each number, by indi-
vidual countries. The introduction includes a description of
the data used as well as of methodology, definitions, classi-
fication and processing.
The second extemal trade publication is Utanríkisverslun -
vöruflokkar og viðskiptalönd. This work contains a summary
of Iceiandic extemal trade in general including tables on
exports and imports classified by divisions of products and
classified by trade with individual countries and market
areas. It is also published in English as a separate volume,
entitled Icelandic Extemal Trade, Commodities and coun-
tries.
At Statistics Iceland Auður Ólína Svavarsdóttir is the
editor of the publications on external trade, Þóra Gylfadóttir
prepared the text of customs tariff numbers together with
Margrét Káradóttir who also prepared the appendices, while
Sigurborg Steingrímsdóttir was in charge of the lay-out.

Guðnadóttir.
