At a meeting about six years ago, Vi Bjarnason Hilton stated, “We Lögberg-Heimsringla board members from Winnipeg need to get down to Mountain for the 2nd
of August Celebrations.” I told her that if they came I would
have a float for them to ride on. We have done this every year
since. My brother, David Hillman, obtains a people mover from
the NDSU Experimental Station in Langdon, ND, and a tractor
from Bernhoft Farms.
Chris Byron invites representatives from Lögberg-
Heimskringla, INL of NA, Icelandic Clubs, and any dignitaries
not in separate vehicles to ride with us. He makes signs for each
for the float riders.
This year we had: Joan Eyolfson Cadham, editor of
Lögberg-Heimskringla; Joni Shaw, INL of NA board member;
J. Peter Johnson Lögberg-Heimskringla board chairman; Alicyn
Goodman, Lögberg-Heimskringla, communications, P.R. and
marketing chair; Vi Bjarnason Hilton, Lögberg-Heimskringla
P.R. and marketing; Kristine Palsson, Lögberg-Heimskringla
volunteer; Chris Byron, INL of NA board member and IAAMN
board member; R S Lyle Hillman, IAAMN board member and
former Lögberg-Heimskringla and INL of NA board member;
David Hillman, Icelandic Communities Club board member
and our tractor driver.
